Davidson Violette was engaged by the House of Commons to design and manage the installation of a WLAN for all Heritage buildings in the Parliamentary Precinct. Working with Public Works, Heritage Canada and HoC technical staff, our design team worked to detail every access point location and cable route in very challenging environments including Centre Block, East Block and many other buildings.
Understanding the environment and potential for designated substances in the aging buildings was paramount to success, and ensuring the new technology did not interfere with the building fabric was critical.
Role of Davidson Violette
- complete surveys of each building to determine access point locations
- detail wiring requirements for each access point
- work with technical staff in implementation
- review exit surveys and adjust where required
