Analog Sunset

The days of analog are waning.  What does this mean to your AV system?

140-room Audio-Visual Design

In May, 2011 DVA was contracted by a local municipality to create a design and respective specifications to accommodate a fit-up of 140 audio and video-conference rooms.  The rooms required easily administered systems, allowing users with little AV knowlege and experience the ability to operate the systems without technical support.

DVA provided a baseline specification for each room type, leveraging the existing corporate network to provide controls, and recommended a booking system that integrated to the client's existing active directory using Microsoft Outlook.

Audio-Conference

A majority of the rooms required an analog audio-conference system, with an upgrade path to an IP-based system.

Video-Conference

Of the numerous rooms, many also required extensive video-conference systems with amplified audio and projected video, coupled with a presentation scenario.  DVA provided the system design, and recommendations for room finishes and furniture, for a fully functional video-conference experience.

Presentation

All the rooms required a presentation capability for vendor, staff and client use.  DVA designed a comprehensive system utilizing the Crestron DigitalMedia system.  DigitalMedia allowed users with legacy equipment (VGA output) or newer digital equipment (DisplayPort, HDMI) to simply plug in and go.

Controls

The designed system is controlled by simple one-button operation at a wall-mounted controller.  Users simply select the room requirement (conference or presentation) by pushing the one button, and the automation power cycles the equipment and routes the audio and video signalling as required.

Benefits

  1. Standardized design documents
  2. One-button operation
  3. Networked management and controls
  4. Incorporation of "analog sunset", accomodating legacy and new equipment on one platform
  5. Ability to easily add or alter equipment without need of replacing components.  A fully modular system.
