Adopting StandardsOur design team leveraged the 942 Standard, and applied this as a baseline to determine the minimum tiering requirements. This baseline provided the foundation for all decisions and justifications considered during the design phase.
- Environmental conditions
- Power conditioning and back-up
- Wireless technology
- Traffic audit
Cable PlantBy nature, a data center requires an extensive physical infrastructure to support the myriad of services found within. The original budget for interconnect cabling, provided by a local contractor, was projected at $1.4M, and consisted of a spiderweb of cabling that would be impossible to manage. Our design team presented the Crown with a structured cable system to address their immediate and future needs, in a structured approach. Further, we recommended a modular pre-terminated system to allow their staff to effect quick changes and upgrades without requiring outside technical support. The resulting budget was reduced to $850K, and provided a much more robust system that is easily managed. |
